SoftRAID combines advanced RAID modes, fast performance, monitoring, e-mail notification, and fast rebuild capabilities that only software RAID can deliver. With the SoftRAID application you can create and delete RAID volumes. Think there's a problem with one of your disks or volumes? Run the SoftRAID application to find out. Want to make sure your disks are reliable? Certify them with SoftRAID before you put your valuable work on them. Need to add RAID protection to an existing volume. Convert your existing Apple volumes to SoftRAID without losing any files. You can even add a second disk to a normal Apple volume to turn it into a mirror. The SoftRAID Monitor is always running even when you're not logged in to your Mac. It watches your disks and volumes for errors and will warn you as soon as a problem occurs. It can even even send you an email. Most RAID products just protect you from losing files when a disk fails. SoftRAID does more. It can test a disk to make sure your disks are reliable before you use them. It can also detect when a disk is starting to become less reliable. SoftRAID includes a powerful Certify Disk feature. When you Certify a disk, you write, then read, every sector of the disk - more than once. This is the type of testing which should be done on each disk at the factory - but it isn't. Disks are now so big that manufacturers can't afford the huge amount of time it takes to test every sector on every disk. With SoftRAID, you can perform the test which should have been done at the factory. SoftRAID can warn you when a disk is becoming less reliable
